Designed for classic mountaineering, the SUMMIT EVO, developed by the French brand Petzl, is the evolution of the classic Summit model. This accessible model offers an excellent price/performance ratio to allow climbers to equip themselves in an optimal way.
It is made of hardened steel, 7075 aluminium, hardened stainless steel and thermoplastic handle.
Lightweight (400 to 450 g), it offers good anchoring performance at the head and tip, and its hydro-formed tube provides a very comfortable grip under the head of the ice axe. The curvature of the shaft, with its technical design, provides the necessary clearance for use in steep and icy terrain. The well-balanced, forged head provides very good anchoring qualities. Finally, the grip on the shaft makes it a precise and efficient ice axe.

- Hydroformed shaft for a good grip and a technical design:
- the upper part of the shaft is curved to provide good clearance when climbing
- the lower part is straighter and guarantees efficient penetration of the snow
-Head and blade made of hot forged steel, ensuring solid anchoring:
- thin blade (3 mm), robust and toothed at the end, ensuring good anchoring quality in hard snow and ice
- thicker blade in the centre to improve grip in soft snow
- teeth on the upper part of the blade for better grip when used as an ice axe
- sturdy stainless steel tip for very good penetration in hard snow and when used as a cane pick
- High strength and practicality:
- high-strength steel shaft with a comfortable bearing surface and edge design for efficient step cutting
- inclined shaft to guide the axe correctly in the snow (for use as a cane axe)
- head and tip with holes for a carabiner or strap
