Safety in sport is a question of practice, but also of equipment. On the slopes of alpine areas, for example, 10% of accidents are head injuries that could be avoided by wearing a suitable ski helmet. Ekosport has a wide range of safety accessories to help you enjoy your sport in complete safety. For both skiing and mountaineering, we offer helmets, ski masks and goggles, body protection and avalanche protection equipment (avalanche transceiver, shovel, probe, etc.). For mountain biking, you'll find helmets, elbow pads, knee pads, back protectors and protective shorts.

Helmets, masks and goggles

For cycling, mountaineering, skiing, snowboarding and climbing, the basic safety accessories are helmets and optical protection. Injuries to the head or eyes can have dramatic consequences. To choose the right helmet for your activity, it's essential to find out how much protection you need. There are several types of cycling helmet. For leisure cycling, a road bike helmet that protects the top of the skull is sufficient. Mountain bike helmets come in several types: semi-integral, full-face or enduro. As for ski helmets, entry-level models offer the protection needed for beginners on the slopes, while a MIPS ski helmet is ideal for extreme sports. Ski touring helmets are more ventilated. Finally, there are climbing and mountaineering helmets to protect you from falling rocks. When it comes to optical protection, there are solutions for all sports. Category 4 sports sunglasses are perfect for the mountains. For cross-country skiing, opt for a ski visor. If you go snowboarding or downhill skiing, choose a ski goggle suited to the light conditions. Finally, there are bike masks for mountain biking.

Body protection

Many extreme sports require you to wear body protection. For DH mountain biking, BMX, trials or dirt, it's more than advisable to equip yourself with good protection so that you can concentrate on your pleasure and your performance. The Dainese, Fox, Poc and Scott brands offer body protection for bikes, including mountain bike elbow pads, back protectors, knee pads and protective mountain bike shorts. Choosing the right mountain bike protection depends on your riding style. For freeride and downhill mountain biking, opt for rigid protectors. For cross-country and all-mountain mountain biking, soft protectors are all you need. If you're into winter sports, particularly ski racing, freeride skiing, snowboarding or freestyle, good protection is useful for preventing injury. Many brands offer snow back protectors and ski back protectors, both in the form of a back jacket and a back protector that can be slipped on under a ski jacket. Other ski protectors include shin guards (ideal for slalom), hand and wrist protectors (for snowboarding), knee protectors (if you have weak knees, to prevent the most common winter sports injury, knee sprains) and protective ski shorts.

Avalanche safety equipment

Both ski tourers and freeride skiers know that the risk of avalanche is real. That's why it's essential to be equipped with avalanche safety gear. An avalanche safety pack consists of the following items: a shovel, a probe and an avalanche transceiver. This equipment enables you to intervene quickly if someone is buried under the snow. The avalanche transceiver allows you to locate the person, the probe to determine the depth of burial, and the shovel to clear the snow from underneath. For extreme freeriding and solo outings, there are avalanche airbags with several types of release. You'll also find trigger cartridges and sets in the shop. Finally, whether you're skiing alone or with others, a first-aid kit is a must-have in the bottom of your bag.
