Good lighting is essential for outdoor sports, and not just if you're running at night. A good headlamp is the safety and visibility equipment you should always have at the bottom of your pack. Ekosport has a wide range of battery-powered and rechargeable headlamps, as well as camping lights from top brands such as Black Diamond, Petzl and Ledlenser. Some models are perfect as running lights for the city, but there are also powerful headlamps for trail running and caving.

Headlamps for sport and leisure.

In the shop, you'll find a wide range of solutions for sports lighting, but also for everyday use. For cycling and mountain biking, it's advisable to equip yourself with good bike lights that you attach to the front or rear of your bike. As well as making you visible to other road users, good bike lights ensure that you can effectively scan your surroundings as the day wears on. Another type of lamp available in the shop is a headlamp. Whether you're looking for a lamp for running, mountaineering or ski touring, you're bound to find the model that's best suited to your needs. For intense outdoor sports, it's best to choose a powerful headlamp with more than 1000 lumens. For the city, for everyday use or for a bivouac, a headlamp with between 200 and 1000 lumens is sufficient. Ekosport has also selected camping lanterns with very good autonomy.

Choosing your headlamp

Before buying a headlamp, it's essential to find out about the criteria that differentiate the different models. These are as follows :

  • light output in lumens: the higher the value, the more powerful the headlamp. A cheap headlamp is often of low power, but is sufficient for camping and at home. For mountain activities, opt for a powerful headlamp with more than 700/1000 lumens;
  • beam width and lighting distance: for close-range use, opt for a wide beam; for touring use, opt for a narrow beam;
  • autonomy and energy source: you can choose between a battery-operated headlamp, a rechargeable battery-operated headlamp or a hybrid battery-operated headlamp. Autonomy is indicated on the product data sheets;
  • the number of modes: the more modes you have, the more you can adapt your headlamp to your use, and preserve its autonomy;
  • technologies: some Petzl headlamps, for example, are equipped with Reactive Light technology, which adapts lighting to ambient light levels.

Choosing your camping light

Whether you're camping or bivouacking, a camping lantern is essential for lighting your camp, stocking up on firewood, or even for aperitifs and late-night meals. There are many different models of camping lanterns to choose from. First of all, consider the power source you'll be using: a solar or dynamo lamp is perfect for occasional use and for the summer, while a battery-powered camping lantern lasts longer. To choose your lamp wisely, take the time to assess its weight and size. When bivouacking, a small camping light will be lighter in a rucksack. Depending on your needs, opt for a torch that can recharge your phone via USB cable, like some Black Diamond camping torches.
