The Origins of the Vola Brand

Vola began life in 1935, when it was known as Parsenn, after what was then Europe's longest ski run. The mountain goat logo they still use today was created when the company was founded, and its image of surefooted tenacity has continued to be a powerful symbol of Vola's ethos. For example, in 1940 the devastation caused by the Second World War forced the company away from its birthplace in Colmar, but Parsenn rose again in the city of Haute-Savoie and restarted manufacture just a year later. By the 1960s Parsenn, now known as Vola, was going from strength to strength, and by the 1980s they were producing up to a million blocks of wax each year. Nowadays Vola is still known for its high-quality ski wax, but also sells its own helmets, goggles, glasses and ski poles, as well as tools for keeping skis and snowboards in good repair.

Strengths of the Vola Brand

High-Level Collaboration

Vola have a long history of partnering with the stars of winter sports to ensure that their products are up to the standards of elite competition. In the 1960s and 1970s, Olympic alpine skier Adrien Duvillard and successful Nordic skier Jean-Paul Pierrat both shared their expertise to help improve Vola's products, and today Vola works with athletes like Marie Bochet, winner of eight Paralympic gold medals for skiing, and champion freestyle skier Bastien Midol. These world-class competitors spur Vola on, helping them to maintain their keen edge.
