UVEX stands for UltraViolet Excluded, signaling that the brand is resistant to UV lights. UVEX had a non-linear history, one which included a lot of mergers and expansions. UVEX first appeared in the 50s (in Germany), presented to the world by Rainer Winter. Though company became popular in the 50s, it was actually founded in 1926. At first, UVEX was selling sunglass, but soon became an umbrella term for two major UVEX companies: UVEX Sports, which manufactures and markets sports equipment, and UVEX Safety Group, which produces and sells protective products for industrial workers.
