Switchback: a brief bio

Switchback began as the brainchild of Dennis Dussledorp and Danny Kiebert, otherwise known as the Director and Art Director of world-famous Bataleon Snowboards of Triple Base Technology fame. The Norwegians state that they wanted to embrace the new no-back binding style, but still wanted to be able to pull tight turns when the grooming was fresh. Until then, switching between the two was cumbersome, and involved manually removing or replacing the highbacks. From 2013 onwards, Switchback made the process do-able in seconds. They remain the market leaders.

The Gear

Switchback is about personal choice and personal freedom. Rather than offering bindings as a pair, the company offers thousands of options. This enables snowboarders to choose their preferred setup of base, straps, highback, and padding, so that they can tailor their bindings to everything from their look to the demands of the terrain. Switchback's status was earned for their quick switch technology, enabling snowboarders to remove their high-back with a simple click, which is ideal for switching styles or changing terrains.

A high-back no-back revolution

2018 saw the fruition of three years of intensive research and development. The AERON base combines a forged aluminium core and polyamide Nylon for a lighter, stronger binding. Switchback has also developed toothless adjustability so that the bindings will fit with a broader range of boot brands.
