Origins of Northwave

This family-owned Italian company was originally responsible for manufacturing shoes, back in the 1980s. When one of the family members, Gianni Piva, became interested in snowboarding, he decided to develop a new focus for the business. By 1991, Northwave had produced its first line of snowboarding boots. It later branched out into cycling shoes, but snowboarding remains at the heart of the company.
