The E9 Brand's Origins

E9 was founded in 1988 by Mauro Calibani, the 2001 World Bouldering Champion. Calibani claims that the idea for the brand came from the forests of Meschia in his home country of Italy. The area, which attracts boulderers from across Europe, is known for its smooth, coloured sandstone rocks and it was these that inspired Calibani to create E9. The company is based in Italy but has grown to become one of Europe's best-known rock climbing apparel brands. Its range, which includes climbing clothes for men, women and children, is also now available in the USA.

The company focuses on three key principles when it comes to product design: creativity, freedom and courage. E9's colourful clothing and accessories are also designed with the technical needs of rock climbers and boulderers in mind. Not only was the company founded by a bouldering world champion, its products are also favoured by experienced athletes such as Fred Nicole, Gabriele Moroni and Alex Puccio.
