Brand History

Regatta Clothing was founded in Manchester in 1981 and since then has been owned and operated by the Black family. The company headquarters are still in Manchester, close to the famous Trafford Centre, and Regatta remains one of the largest players in a crowded market. Initially concentrating on outdoor leisurewear, Regatta created the Dare2b brand in 1999 to cover the emerging and growing market for snow and active wear. Since 1999 Dare2b has cornered a significant share of the market, branching out from ski wear to apparel for cycling, kayak slalom and mountain biking amongst many others.

The brand was founded on the principle of doing things differently and this remains a cornerstone today. Dare2b is known for bold and eye-catching designs as well as for using innovative processes and materials for making the clothes themselves. For example, the use of lightweight and breathable synthetic fabrics has allowed Dare2b to create cycling apparel that appeals to the professionals.

Learning From Experience

Dare2b take inspiration from within - their in-house creative team - but also directly from the experiences and feedback of their customers and business partners. In this way, not only can the company stay ahead of the competition amongst the general public but it can also provide the highly specialised clothing required by professional athletes. As a result of this approach, Dare2b is in partnership with athletes from a variety of sports and countries - the Austrian luge team, the Slovak Olympic team, the French snowboard team and GB professional kayak slalom athlete Amber Maslen.
