Dainese was founded in 1972 by Lino Dainese, who made clothing for motocross enthusiasts starting with a pair of pants. Over time the company he made expanded, buying out helmet manufacturer AGV in 2007, and stayed close to its roots as a company focused on racing.
Almost all of Dainese's clothing is layered with different materials, from elastic loops to velcro straps. Most internal padding is made of polyethylene and similar polymers that provide resistance to a huge number of different bumps and problems that athletes can run into. Due to the company's racing focus, most of these layers also contain utilities, such as buckles, to adjust how each item is worn and to link it with other items or equipment as needed.
Beyond what the layers of mesh and material do to protect you, they also give Dainese's clothing a sporty look. The bright reds and blacks used combine to make for high visibility in sports where it's required, while still looking like something that belongs on the field. Dainese's clothing and gear often bears the brand in prominent light and dark green, meaning that everyone knows you'll be wearing something from a proven sports brand.
Dainese provides clothing that can protect the entire body. One particularly large part of its lineup is back protective gear, strapping around the shoulder and reinforcing the back during sports where it's at the most risk of injury or weakening. Most of this protective clothing includes features to make it more flexible: for example, flexible pores to allow for temperature adjustment or absorbent padding to help keep the wearer safe in the event of a nasty crash or fall.
Dainese's offerings cover the entire body, and that includes not just standard-issue gloves, but wrist guards and similar. Most of this hand and arm gear is made with elastics to help improve its flexibility without sacrificing the durability and thus value of the surrounding material. Past that, many of these pieces of equipment are made to minimize loss of comfort and to enhance the user's grip.
