The Origin of Colmar

Colmar started as a family business in the 1920's. At first, the company focused on making hats and gaiters, but they later switched to skiing gear. This change came in the 1930's when European countries scrambled for a share of the African continent. The transition was primarily motivated by the financial difficulties the company was experiencing during this period. Besides skiing equipment, the company was involved in the making of work overalls and uniforms. To date, the company is run as a family business.

The Strengths of the Colmar Brand

Colmar has been noted as an innovative company. Zeno Colo, a skiing star of the 20th century, was one of the people who popularised the brand. He wore the Colmar Sheath jacket which served as an aerodynamic suit. This suit was improved on over the years, thanks to first-hand advice from the star. For example, the manufacturers later placed the side panels in the poplin jackets to prevent the fabric from flapping in the wind. Another skiing legend, Luigi Di Marco, ended up breaking the skiing speed record while wearing this special suit. To make products that were perfect for the winter sport, the company tested their products in the Fiat and Moto Guzzi wind tunnels. This way, they could tell how their gear affected the players' speeds. More recently, the company has been supplying the French Alpine Ski Team. This shows that over all these decades, they have been able to consistently maintain a strong brand of ski equipment.

Trousers

Colmar pants are designed with a Thermore Thermosoft wadding feature that provides padding. They also have an adjustable waist and are waterproof. The water column rating in these pants is 15,000 mm. Colmar uses Teflon EcoElite treatment to give these pants the water resisting properties. These pants are also partially heat-sealed, meaning they will keep you warm as you enjoy your winter sports.
