In 1920 sports lover and athlete Adolf ""Adi"" Dassler, driven by the dream of creating the ultimate equipment for athletes all over the world, began crafting sports shoes in a small washroom in Bavaria. In 1924 he was joined by his brother Rudolf ""Rudi"" Dassler, and the company was formally registered as the ""Dassler Brothers Shoe Factory. Adi helped develop new variants of shoe spikes for athletic shoes to improve speed, grip and comfort. The company grabbed attention worldwide when athletes such as Jesse Owens and Lina Radke sported the innovative shoes, and the brand's popularity skyrocketed. In 1948 the brothers parted ways and the company was divided. Adi rebranded the company and acquired the iconic three bar logo soon after. The Adidas brand was born.
Sport has always been the central focus of the Adidas brand. Adi Dassler was the first shoemaker to recognise that to perform well, athletes required specialised shoes to suit their specific sport. It became his ambition to create custom shoes that helped athletes reach their full potential. To this day, the Adidas brand remains committed to creating specialised products to enhance athletic performance.
Moving into the 21st century, the Adidas company has a world of new technologies at its disposal. Constantly sourcing new materials and production methods to better their products, Adidas is continuously innovating. Working with their industry partners, we've seen the development of brand new polymers that enhance cushioning and comfort, and we are now seeing innovative production methods such as 3D printed midsoles.
The Adidas Terrex collection is a vast range of sporting wear and shoes optimised for outdoor sports. The Terrex range is rugged, lightweight, and designed to withstand the elements. With technologies designed to enhance grip and moisture resistance Terrex is the best choice for hiking, camping, and trail running.
Boost cushioning technology is found in the majority of Adidas trail and running shoes. It utilises a midsole formed from beads of special thermoplastic polyurethane capsules that offers optimal bounce to store and return energy with every stride. Boost technology offers supreme levels of cushioning, shock absorption, and comfort.
