The lightest and thinnest model in the Backland range, the Atomic BACKLAND 78 is a versatile touring ski that promises great ascents to the highest peaks.
With a 78mm skate and an Ultra Light Woodcore, this ski makes it easy to climb thanks to its light weight, while still performing well on the way down. Indeed, its All-Mountain Rocker profile allows absolute control in all circumstances, even on hard snow and the steepest slopes, while its Step Down Sidewall construction guarantees optimal resistance and shock absorption as well as excellent grip on all types of terrain.
The tip features HRZN technology for improved lift and precise steering in ploughed and trampled snow. It also benefits from a cut-out to quickly install skins.

A staple in Atomic's ski touring lineup , the BACKLAND TOUR 80 is an extremely lightweight insert binding specifically designed to fit Backland touring skis.
Weighing only 398g per pair, this binding is remarkably durable and easy to use. It features a patented front binding aid that automatically places the boot in the right position to engage the inserts. To facilitate the ascent, it adds two wedges that work independently of the heel, allowing you to alternate between 0, 7 and 13 inclinations in a single click, as well as 80 mm ski stops.
With a wide spacing (40mm) between the mounting screws, it ensures maximum power transmission with wide skis and offers a 50mm clearance for length adjustment, more than most other insert models. Finally, it is also compatible with standard blade models.
